Do I need an account to play Petal & Twine?

No. Just open it and play, with no sign-up. If you like, a free account (username only, no email, for players 13 and older) puts your scores on the leaderboards and backs up your progress so it follows you to any device.

Is there a daily challenge in Petal & Twine?

Yes. Petal & Twine has a new daily challenge every day, the same one for every player, with its own daily leaderboard. Find it alongside the others on our daily challenges page.

Is Petal & Twine OK for kids?

Accounts are for players 13 and older, so younger players just play and their progress stays on their device. For ages 4 to 11 we also have learning games in their own kids area, with no ads, no accounts and no tracking.

What is Petal & Twine?

Petal & Twine is a florist game with a long career attached. Every piece you sell is a short run of hands-on steps: snip a stem at the marked spot, swipe the low leaves off, drag blooms into a bunch, fold the paper and trace the bow. Each step gets a grade, and the finished piece comes out with one to three stars.

Around that sits the shop. Coins and reputation from your open days buy better gear, more space, a team, decor, a greenhouse and new locations. There are 71 pieces in the Flower Book, from a single rose and a daisy posy to wreaths, flower crowns, potted herbs, pressed flower cards and wedding cascades. It's free and runs in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer, with nothing to download.

How to play

Tap Open the shop to start an open day. Guests walk up with a ticket that shows the piece they want, the price they'll pay and a patience bar. Tap a guest (or a ticket) to start making their order. When the piece is done they pay, tip, and a new guest steps up. The day lasts about three minutes, then you finish any orders still waiting and see your results.

Your first day is a short guided one with two easy orders, and a little hand shows the motion the first time you meet each new step. After that the hand only comes back if you stall on a step.

The steps

StepWhat you do
Cut the stemsSwipe across the stem on the dotted mark. The closer to the mark and the more slanted the cut, the better.
Strip the leavesSwipe down the stem to pull off the leaves below the water line. Keep the top leaves on.
HydrateHold the stems in the water until the bubbles reach the green band, then let go.
ArrangeDrag stems from the tray into the hand or vase. The harmony meter scores color, height and balance.
Fill with greeneryTap each glowing gap to tuck in a sprig.
Spiral hand-tieDraw circles to turn the bunch. Keep each turn about as long as the last one.
Wrap the paperTrace the three fold lines in order.
Tie the ribbonTrace the bow from start to finish.
MistTap to mist until the meter sits in the green. Too many taps soak it.
Pick a cardChoose the message that fits the occasion on the order.
Pot the plantHold to pour soil to the line, then tap the three spots to press it down.
Water itHold the can until the moisture dial is in the band.
Build the wreathTap around the ring to place each piece. After the first one, rings show the even spots.
Press the flowersHold the lid and steer to keep the bubble in the middle until the ring fills.

Controls on phone and computer

On a phone or tablet everything is a tap, a hold or a swipe on the work area. On a computer you can use the mouse the same way, and the keyboard works too: Space holds for hydrating, watering and potting, taps for misting and snips where the shears are. The arrow keys steer the flower press. In an open day, Space starts the guest who has waited longest and 1 to 6 pick a guest. Esc pauses. Keys that aim for you (placing wreath pieces, tracing folds and bows, tucking greenery) top out at Great, so the mouse is the way to chase Perfects.

Grades, stars and tips

Each step is graded Perfect, Great, Good or Oops. The piece's stars come from the average of its steps: a strong average gives three stars, a decent one two, and anything finished still earns one. Three stars pay 30% more than the ticket, one star pays 30% less.

Tips grow with stars and with how much patience the guest had left, so fast and tidy beats slow and perfect when the line is long. Keep serving two-star or better pieces to build a combo. At 3, 5, 8, 12, 16 and 20 in a row you get a hot streak bonus on top.

Some guests are special. A lifestyle writer only cares about three stars and gives a big reputation boost when you get them. Famous visitors tip three times as much. A big spender pays 50% over the ticket for two stars or more. Wedding planners at a grown shop order two pieces for one wedding.

The Studio, the greenhouse and regulars

The Studio has no clock and no guests. Pick any piece you've unlocked and make it at your own pace. You keep half the price plus a little reputation, and it's the best place to chase three stars. Every three-star make counts toward mastery: 3 for bronze, 8 for silver and 15 for gold, worth 10%, 20% and 35% extra on that piece's price for good.

The greenhouse opens with the Little Greenhouse. Plant seeds and they grow in real time, even while you're away. Watering speeds a bed up for two hours, and setting the sun or shade toggle to what the flower likes helps too. Stems you harvest go into stock: every order that uses a stem you grew sells for 20% more per fresh stem. You can sell extra stems at the market, and one kind pays double each day.

Ten regulars drop by with tiny stories. Serve one well a few times and they teach you their signature piece, like Nan Edie's Sweet Posy or Theo's Dozen Roses.

Growing the shop

  • Gear: shears, cooler, ribbon station, pot bench, mister and a cold room, each with three tiers. New gear unlocks pieces, and every tier makes its steps more forgiving.
  • Space: a second bench, a greenhouse, an awning for an extra guest, a flower wall and more. Gear needs a free display spot.
  • Team: Wren the assistant strips, hydrates and later fills greenery for you. Dev the delivery rider earns coins while you're away, up to two hours. Ola the grower speeds up and later harvests the greenhouse.
  • Skills: six skills with eight levels each. You get a point every reputation level and one more for finishing all three daily goals.
  • Locations: Linden Street Cart, Hollow Lane Corner Shop, Old Market Hall, Riverside Flower Shop, Grand Conservatory and the Palace Garden Commission. Each pays more and its guests love certain kinds of pieces.
  • Late game: renovations add stars to each location, masterclasses buy extra skill points, and from Rep 24 the city gardens (a koi pond, a rose arbor, an orchid house, a fountain court and more) grow the grounds beside your shop with lasting bonuses. From Rep 22 you can enter the City Flower Show once a day for reputation and a festival crowd on your next day.

Daily Challenge and leaderboards

The Daily Challenge is the same shop for everyone that day: four guests at a time, a fixed set of four pieces and the same line of customers, with your upgrades switched off so it's fair. Your score is the coins you take plus 10 for every three-star piece, and 50 more if nobody leaves. Your first Daily of the day also pays coins into your real shop, and replays still count for the board. Your Daily score goes on the daily leaderboard and your total reputation goes on the reputation board.

Tips and strategy

  • Arrange is worth the most attention. Use only the order's colors (two stems on the tray are decoys), put the tallest bloom near the middle, and spread the heights instead of lining them up.
  • On the spiral, rhythm matters more than speed. Even, steady circles score better than fast, uneven ones.
  • When you hydrate or water, watch the dial, not the stems. Let go as soon as the needle enters the green band, because holding on too long floods it.
  • Put a few pieces your location loves on offer. They pay 20% more and those guests order them more often.
  • Check the daily special on the counter and the theme of the day. The special pays double.
  • Keep the greenhouse busy with short crops when you play often and long ones like orchids before bed.
  • Spend skill points on the steps you find hardest first. Easier tolerances turn Greats into Perfects across many pieces.
  • If timers stress you out, turn on the Relaxed shop in settings. Guests wait forever and prices drop a little.

Questions

Is Petal & Twine free?

Yes. It's free to play in your browser with no download, no ads and nothing to buy. Coins are only earned by making flowers.

Does my flower shop save?

Yes. The game saves every few seconds and when you leave the page. Tap Continue to pick up where you were. Sign in on the site to keep the same shop on your phone and computer.

How do I get three stars?

Average a Great or better across the steps. Arrange and the spiral are the usual trouble spots, so practice them in the Studio, and upgrade the gear for the steps you miss.

How does the greenhouse work while I'm away?

Beds keep growing in real time. Watering lasts two hours and the right sun setting adds speed. Once Ola the grower is trained up, ready beds are harvested for you.

What do I do with lots of coins late in the game?

Renovate each location, take masterclasses, enter the daily City Flower Show and build the city gardens. The gardens cost a lot but each one adds a lasting bonus and grows the grounds you can scroll through.
