What is Low-G Lander?
Low-G Lander is a free arcade lunar landing game in the spirit of the classic lander games. You control one engine and the tilt of a small pod. Gravity pulls you down, wind pushes you sideways, and fuel runs out. Touch both legs down on the lit pad slowly enough, straight enough and without sliding, and you land. Get it wrong and the pod breaks apart.
Every world gets harder: stronger gravity, less fuel, rougher ground, wind and gusts, a narrower pad and tighter landing limits. The final world, Nadir, has the same gravity as Earth's Moon.
How to play
Press Launch. The pod starts high above the surface. Fire the engine in short bursts to slow your fall. Tilt to move sideways, then straighten up before you touch down. The panel under the screen shows your altitude, descent speed, sideways drift, tilt, fuel and wind, with the safe limit for each.
| ↑ or W | Fire the engine |
| ← → or A D | Tilt left and right |
| Space | Launch, continue |
| R | Restart the level |
| Touch | Big tilt buttons on the left, a round Thrust button on the right |
The eight worlds
| World | Gravity | What makes it hard |
|---|---|---|
| 1 · Pebble | 0.5 m/s² | Nothing yet. The pad is right below you. |
| 2 · Thistle | 0.7 m/s² | The pad is off to the side. |
| 3 · Kestrel | 0.9 m/s² | You start drifting, over rougher ground. |
| 4 · Marrow | 1.1 m/s² | A steady wind pushes you the whole way down. |
| 5 · Drift | 1.2 m/s² | Gusts that change strength and direction. |
| 6 · Hollow | 1.35 m/s² | The pad sits at the bottom of a canyon. |
| 7 · Cinder | 1.5 m/s² | Fast start, strong gusts, a pad on a ridge. |
| 8 · Nadir | 1.62 m/s² | Moon gravity, a tiny pad in a deep crater, heavy gusts. |
How stars are scored
Every safe landing scores up to 1,000 points. Fuel left is worth up to 500, a soft touchdown up to 300 and landing near the middle of the pad up to 200. Score 600 or more for three stars, 380 or more for two. Any safe landing earns one star and unlocks the next world, and your best stars for each world are saved.
Landing tips
- Don't hold the engine. Short taps keep your speed under control and save fuel.
- Kill your sideways drift high up, where you have time to fix mistakes.
- Lean into the wind. On Marrow and Drift, a little tilt against the wind keeps you over the pad.
- Come straight down for the last few meters. Most crashes are a tilted or sliding pod, not a fast one.
- For three stars, use less fuel by letting gravity do the work early, then brake late and gently.
Questions
Is Low-G Lander free?
Yes. No ads, no sign-up, nothing to download.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Phones and tablets get large tilt and thrust buttons, and it plays held sideways or upright.
Is the gravity realistic?
Nadir uses the same gravity as Earth's Moon, 1.62 m/s². The earlier worlds are lighter so you can learn the controls first.
Is my progress saved?
Yes, in your browser on the device you play on: the worlds you've unlocked and your best stars for each.
