Your child is the newest field explorer on the island of Numi. In Meadowbrook they meet the townsfolk, befriend creatures, calm startled ones in friendly standoffs and help fix the town, and nearly everything they do runs on math at the level they pick.
At the start your child picks a math level, and every question in the game follows it. You can change it any time in Settings.
Walk around Meadowbrook by tapping where you want to go, or with the arrow keys or WASD on a computer. Talk to people, read signs and follow the quest tracker at the top of the screen. The map shows where your next goal is.
Wild creatures hide in the tall grass. When one pops out, it's startled, not angry, so you have a friendly standoff: pick one of your partner's moves, then answer a math question to use it. Every right answer fills the creature's calm meter, and a speedy streak adds a little bonus. A wrong answer is never wasted. The move still works a little, and we show how to solve that kind of question. Once a creature is calm, you can try a short trust challenge to invite it onto your field team.
Kindergarten through high school. The math level is picked at the start and can be changed any time, so the same adventure works for a 5-year-old and a teenager.
It's a math adventure with creatures and turn-based standoffs, but the world, story and creatures are all our own. There are no wizards or spells: you play a field explorer who helps a town and befriends wildlife.
